Motorola Atrix HD Developer Edition officially announced

When the Motorola Atrix HD launched in July, many Android users were disappointed to learn that the device came with a locked bootloader. If you previously considered the Atrix HD but didn’t like that it was locked down, you may be interested in the newly announced Atrix HD Developer Edition.

The Developer Edition is totally unchanged from the standard version of the Atrix HD, except for presence of an unlocked bootloader. Obviously this is what allows for a heavy level of customization, including the installation of custom ROMs. For those that need a reminder of the Atrix HD’s specs, the phone features a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 display, 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Other specs include an 8MP rear cam, 1.3MP front cam, 4G LTE support, HSPA+, and a 1780mAh battery.
The bad news is that we currently have no pricing or official release date for the Motorola Atrix HD Developer Edition. Still, if you are interested in learning more about the Developer Edition, you can sign-up through the Motorola link found in the source section below. With Google selling the LG Nexus 4 unlocked for just $299 starting November 13th, you have to wonder how many in the modding community will actually be interested in this announcement.
What do you think, would you consider the developer version of the Atrix HD if the smartphone is priced low enough?
