Google Now and Google Voice Search Updated

There’s no need to wait for Android 4.2 to take advantage of a handful of new Google Now and Google Search features. Google Search has been updated on the Google Play Store, adding numerous new cards to help automate your life.
The list of new features includes some pretty big improvements to Google Now and Google Voice Search such as the ability to add calendar events (and not just alarms), stocks, news updates, nearby photos, concerts, packages, flight confirmations, hotel reservations, restaurant bookings, and other events. Many of these new features are thanks to newly added GMail integration. Anyways, here’s what’s new, you’re going to love it.
What’s in this version:
For Android 4.1+ (Jelly Bean), Google Search is faster plus:
- Google Now works with Gmail (English only)
- Flights
- Restaurant reservations
- Hotel confirmations
- Events
- Packages
- New Now cards: nearby attractions & photo spots, movies opening in theaters, concerts & more
- New voice actions: launch apps, schedule meetings & check when your next appointment is
Google Now puts you in control: at any time, adjust or turn off individual Now cards within Settings.
Pretty nice enhancements, eh? Besides the above, Google will even tell you when your own birthday is, a sort of Happy Birthday from Google. Sure, this is a neat feature, but to be honest, I’d rather see other people’s birthday information. We already see them when we visit google.com. Why not add that feature into Google now? That is what Google Now is supposed to be for, right? Provide information at our fingertips so that we don’t have to go looking for it.
The update is incredible and it’s something you don’t want to wait for. Head on over to the Google Play Store to update your Search app now.
